Flint United announces Charlie Bell as Head Coach
(Flint, Mich.) – When you’re talking about the history of basketball in the city of Flint, Michigan, there are few names more impactful than, Charlie Bell. An NCAA National Champion as a part of the legendary Flintstones with Morris Peterson, Mateen Cleaves, and Antonio Smith, and a 12-year professional career with the Phoenix Suns, the Dallas Mavericks, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Golden State Warriors.
Now, Head Coach of Flint United, Bell sets out to re-ignite the spirit of hoops in the city by bringing a wealth of professional playing experience as well as assistant coaching experience for the NBA’s G-League organizations, the Texas Legends and the Iowa Wolves.
Charlie’s Reaction to being named the head coach of Flint United:
“I’m excited about the opportunity to have my first head coaching job here in Flint, where I grew up and I know how special and deep the passion for basketball is for the city. I have played for a lot of great coaches and the last couple years as an assistant in the G-League has taught me a lot about what it takes to build a great team.”
Charlie’s first year goals:
“My goal is to have a team that works hard, every day. A team that understands that not one person can do it alone and we need each other to be successful. If we can do that, I know we will accomplish all our goals.”
